Our Mission

Faith. Leadership. Brotherhood.

Pack 1 is one of Huntington Beach's longest-running Cub Scout packs. Chartered by First Christian Church HB, we use the Scouting program to prepare boys not just for Boy Scouts — but to make a lifetime of moral and ethical decisions.

Dad-led dens, meetings, campouts, pinewood derby, service projects, and more. We keep it real, low-pressure, and fun.

FAQ

Common questions from new families.

If you don't see yours here, just text or email us.

What does it cost to join?
BSA charges an annual membership fee. The pack may also collect dues for activities, supplies, and events. Contact us for current rates — we work to keep costs reasonable for every family.
My son has never camped. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Most Scouts start with zero outdoor experience. The dens build skills gradually, and there are always experienced leaders and dads on hand. First campout jitters are totally normal.
What does "dad-led" mean?
It means dads (and other male guardians) run the dens alongside their sons. It's one of the things that makes Pack 1 special — fathers and sons doing this together, week to week.
What should we bring to the first meeting?
Just yourselves! Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes. We'll give you a full packing list and uniform information after your first visit.
What's the time commitment?
Den meetings are typically 1–2 times a month. Pack meetings (all dens together) happen monthly. Campouts and service projects are scheduled throughout the year — most are optional but highly recommended.
Is this a religious program?
Pack 1 is chartered by First Christian Church HB and is faith-based in its values. Scouts learn about faith, character, and service. Families of all backgrounds are welcome — the program is inclusive and focused on shared values.
